Nana’s Nook: Thanksgiving Bonus Devotional

Good morning, friends.

And now, for your final Thanksgiving bonus Devotional! This one is titled “Sit Still” by Mandy Hale, as found in the devotional book Joy For the Journey.

“Often in life we get so caught up in what we don’t have that we forget to be grateful for what we do have. We get so busy asking and seeking and begging and pursuing that we never take time out simply to be. To sit still and contemplate just how marvelous life really is, and how blessed we are to be a part of it. Wherever you are in your journey, take a minute to stop and give thanks for life. For love. For family. For faith. For friends. For another day. For the chance to get it right, no matter how many times you’ve gotten it wrong before. No matter what you think you’re lacking today, there is so much to be thankful for…so much beauty and hope and opportunity and life right in front of you. Don’t let another second pass you by without pausing to appreciate it.”

And a song comes to mind. (I hear you saying, of course it does! I just can’t help myself!) Hillary Scott’s song Still is just beautiful and points us to our great and awesome and Sovereign God. Take a listen to the song today and then be still and know that He is God and thank Him for all of his good gifts to you! Thanksgiving is a week away, but why not commit to thanking God every day for His goodness and faithfulness to you, no matter where you are on your journey of faith. He is truly worthy of all our praise!

“Every good and every perfect gift is from above,
and comes down from the Father of lights.”
James 1:17
