Nana’s Nook: Third Anniversary of the Blog!

Good morning, friends. Today is a special day! It is the third anniversary of the launch of Nana’s Nook!  My daughter, Christl and I spent hours on the deck of the condo at Myrtle Beach setting up the site and posting the first devotional. And now, 3 years later, i am blessed to be sending this devotional to you from the launch site, Myrtle Beach, SC. We are for the week and ready for some R&R! I read a devotional recently in Joy For the Journey that really hit home and I wanted to share it with you this morning.

Need a Rest?

“Do you ever just get tired of trying? It feels like you’ve prayed and you’ve tried a lot of things, but nothing seems to change. You start to wonder if you have some kind of black cloud that just hangs over your head. Maybe you’re just tired. Maybe it’s time to give yourself a break and take a little rest. After all, even Jesus enjoyed a good nap now and then. Put your head on God’s shoulder and relax a bit. Some days all you need is a chance to stop the noise and the chaos of all that is going on around you and simply rest. God invites you in. He knows you need a break and is happy to spend some quiet time just with you.”

Don’t you just love those thoughts? I also read this in Jesus Always recently: “I want you to know that I approve of you AND I approve of rest.” So, I plan on spending the week getting some rest and relaxation. But, I am also reminded of the devotional we shared awhile back that gave us a slightly different take on the R&R acronym. Do you remember that? For real rest in our spiritual lives, we need to Recite God’s promises and Rehearse His faithfulness. But, as I looked forward to this beach break, I had some other R&R words that came to mind. Try these on for size:

Rest in God’s grace.
Relax with Him.
Rely on His love.
Refresh in His Presence.
Remember His Love.
Rejoice in the Lord.
Reflect on the many ways He has come through for you!

So, will you join me this week for some R&R&R&R…..of your own? God is good and He is faithful to His promises. He will indeed provide all that we need, including times of rest and refreshment!
