Midweek Musings: “Peace Be With You”

In our current preaching series, we are closing in on the finish line for our study in the book of John.  This week’s focus was on John 20:19-23, where we see Christ’s first appearance to His disciples following His resurrection.  The disciples have gathered together and they are afraid.  They don’t know what to make of the events that have happened over the last few days.  But then, Jesus appears in the midst of them.  His first words to them are, “Peace be with you.”  These words are meant to calm them and comfort them.  but these words are also meant to calm and comfort us.  When the struggles of this life overwhelm us, Jesus says to us, Peace be with you.  The basis for all of our peace is found in the work of Christ!  Oh, that we would take this message to heart.  What a difference it could make in our anxiety-ridden lives.  May God help us all to tap into this truth throughout the rest of this week.
I hope to see you all on the next Lord’s Day as we continue to hear words of encouragement from our Risen Christ!
