Nana’s Nook: Encouragements for Tough Times

Good morning, friends.

I have to be honest with you this morning. It has been a tough couple of weeks. So, I come to you with a heavy heart that desperately needs these messages taken from Sarah Young’s Jesus Always and Susie Larson’s Blessings for Women. I am also including the lyrics to a wonderful song by Cory Asbury that has ministered to my heart in a mighty way in recent days. I am hoping that these words will serve as an encouragement to all of you out there who have heavy hearts and need a reminder of these truths from our Savior, as I do today.

“My love chases after you every day of your life. So look for signs of my tender Presence as you go through this day. My love for you is not passive; it actively chases after you and leaps into your life. Invite Me to open the eyes of your heart (Psalm 119:18) so you can see Me blessing you in myriad ways-both small and great.”

(Sarah Young)

“No matter what you’re going through, may you know in the depths of your soul that you are loved. Your identity is completely secure. It’s not up for grabs or changeable with popular opinion. Jesus loves how He made you! Seasons come and seasons go, but God’s love for you never changes. It is abundant, profound, and amazingly real, right here, right now. Walk like you’re loved, because you are, beyond your wildest dreams.”

(Susie Larson)

Reckless Love of God
(Songwriters: Caleb Culver / Cory Asbury / Ran Jackson)

Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah

When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me

And oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah

There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn’t earn it, I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.

“Surely goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”
(Psalm 23:6)

“His goodness and His mercy will chase after you all the days of your life.”
