Christ’s Selflessness in Suffering

Good evening, church family.

We missed those of you who could not be with us this past Lord’s Day. We hope this finds you well. We were once again dealing with John 19, where we focused on the suffering of our Savior on the cross. One amazing truth we spent time on was the fact that even though Christ was in pain, suffering a horrible death for the sins of His people, He still was focused on others. He was concerned for His mother, Mary, and made sure that His disciple, John, would care for her from that day forward. We can learn much from that scene in this gripping story.

Even when we are hurting, we too, should care for other people. Another lesson we see in this emotional scene is that the cross will show us the nature of our own hearts. You can’t be a hypocrite standing at the foot of the cross. The question I would ask you is this: What does the cross show you to be? A sinner in need of a Savior or a sinner who has a Savior? What will you do with Jesus today? May God give us all eyes to see past our pain, past our sorrow, past our trials. May we have eyes to see people who need the salvation Christ died on the cross to secure.

Just a reminder that this Sunday is the last day to let us know if you would like to attend the dinner the night of the Reedy River Presbyterian Church service bringing the church into the BPC. The dinner will be held Thursday, March 7th, at 6 PM, with the service following. Please let Janie know if you will be attending. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to be there to support our brothers and sisters in Christ as they take this step.

Also, if you have not already done so, take a look at your information in our church directory to see if any updates are needed. Please let Sandy Williams know at your earliest convenience if changes are needed or if the current information is correct.

Hope to see you all this Sunday as we worship our Savior together. If you have any needs this week that I can help you with, don’t hesitate to call me.

In His service,
Steve
