Good afternoon, friends, and Happy New Year’s Eve! My morning got away from me today, but I wanted to take a minute to share some thoughts with you as we prepare to usher in a new year. For the last number of years, I have put a life goal statement in the front of my planner as a reminder of what I want my life to look like that year. Last year the quote was: “Love God. Love people.” This year I have written this in my planner: “Live in His grace. Give His grace.” I am realizing the older I get that life really is all about GRACE! It is about rejoicing and reveling in the grace that God has shown us in sending His Son to die on the cross and save us from our sins. The more we understand the grace He extends to us every day, the more we are able to extend grace to others. The more we comprehend our own sinfulness and the depth of God’s forgiveness of our sins, the more we should be able to extend forgiveness and grace to others who sin against us. Live in His grace. Give His grace. With that in mind, I want to share a great devotional from Joy for the Journey, written by Nancy Leigh DeMoss.
His Grace Is Sufficient
“Whether I choose to believe it or not, if I am God’s child, the Truth is that ‘His grace is sufficient for me,’ His grace is sufficient for every moment, every circumstance, every detail, every need, and every failure of my life.
When I’m exhausted…His grace is sufficient for me…
When I don’t know which direction to go…His grace is sufficient for me.
When my heart is breaking,… His grace is sufficient for me.
What do you need God’s grace for? Wayward children? Aching body? No money in the bank? Church going through a split? Desperately lonely? …
Fill in the blank. Whatever your story, whatever your situation, right now, His grace is sufficient for me. His divine resources are available to meet your need- no matter how great. That’s the Truth. And the truth will set you free…
Your heavenly Father will never lead you anywhere that His grace will not sustain you.”
So, as you celebrate the dawn of a new year, remember these wonderful truths and rejoice in the marvelous grace of our loving Lord. Live in His grace. Give His grace.
Happy New Year from my heart to yours!
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
(2 Corinthians 12:9)
