Good morning, church family. First of all, I would like to thank all of you who have been praying for my father as he has been in the hospital this week. Our family is so appreciative of the prayers, calls, visits, and e-mails. He is doing better and the plan is to send him home sometime this afternoon. We ask you to keep praying for him as he recovers and also please pray for my mother as she cares for him.
We missed those of you who could not be with us this past Sunday. We continued our series in the book of John in the morning, but have started a new series in the evening that I hope will be encouraging to you in your walk with our Savior. On the weeks I have the evening service, typically the 2nd and 4th Sundays, we will be taking on a study of God’s Covenants. This past week we introduced the subject with 5 Reasons for studying the Covenants:
1.) They give structure to the Bible and help us in our understanding of it.
2.) They help you understand history.
3.) They give unity to the Bible. “I will be your God and you will be my people” is the essence of the Covenants and is a theme that runs through the Bible like a golden thread.
4.) They unite everything in your life, your work, and your worship. The Covenants bind you together with other Christians.
5.) The heart of the Covenants is Jesus Christ Himself!
Do you want to know how to have a closer walk with God? Study the Covenants. The Lord wants to structure your life. This is a great way to do it.
Have a great week. Lord willing, I will see you all on Sunday!
